The following are common idioms in Salthan. The Salthan rendering of the expression is in parenthesis

(To) look at the sky when you're thirsty - (olanys datosa chisud) to look at the obviously wrong place for something (it hardly rains in the desert) 

(To) be a pot boiled over - To  be angry, to not take any more, to be fed up. 

(To) offer a candle to the sun - To be foolishly boastful. 

(To) trip over one's tail - To be extremely clumsy, doing something that's hard to do in a clumsy way. 

(To have) Four hungry wives, Eight Hungry Children - To be living over ones means, marrying too many wives. 

(to have) 24 - (leÑisgihasany) To be just short of perfect

When heaven freezes/ When Hell warms up - Never

To have one's tail up, to hold one's tail - To be a naughty child. 

To be hugged by a cactus - To have an enemy do something that seems kind but is hurtful, to be betrayed.

To be a Kes in a pottery store - To be clumsy

To have Lukewarm blood - To be in good health

To have one's tail over their heads - To be in love

To speak through one's nose - To be dishonest
