 Saltha (Salthan kasanailerathe, literally place of the Salthans) is a nation located on the northwest corner of Scindon, and home of the Salthan race, a lizard-folk peoples.

 

History

Koba Period

The earliest recordings of settlements in Saltha date to around 7000 to 6500 KG. For the most part they early Salthans lived in caves and were nomadic hunter-gatherers. 

 

Agricultural Era

The advent of agraculture around 6600 KG farmer brought the begining of permiment settlements  and farms.  mining for minierals, such as Iron also begun during this period.  Several city-states based on separate clans formed. The two largests were the Kesai, living in karathe and the Lykesanai in Tenterak (which is now known as Gilsolrel)

 

Era of Kings

In 5920 KG,the nation unified under a single king, Tarsak I. with Gilsolrel as the capital.  Up to this point Humans and Salthans have had no contact, and do not even know the other group even exists. On June 2nd, 3017 KG The human explorer Henry Bright accidentally discovered Saltha and caused the first contact, and for the first time Humans and Salthans discovered they were no the only sentient beings on the planet. Lail Da Gisal (Lail the great) in the middle years of his reign moved the capital to the central city of Karathe.

 

 The fifty Year War

In 44 NG king Kakel of Saltha declared war on the human nation of Braydon, and their ally Sylvane, joining in the great war and siding with the nation of Trahern. Though Saltha's army made a strong first push, the tide quickly turned and by 10 NG, under the weight of a unpopular war and brutally tyranical king riots and outright rebellion began. Kakel was overthrown on May 9th, 1 NG. The interum goverment officially surrendered, withdrawing from the war, signing a the terms of surrender at Wendovil's plain on June 25th, 1 NG. A new democratic goverment was established, officially begining on the date of November 30th, 1 KG.

The government of Saltha is a parliamentary democracy. Each city has 20 senators  who are elected every five years.Each senate has a presiding elected  executive.  The executive may make a ruling against the senate's vote, but the senate's vote must be less than two thirds majority against.  A case from a senate can be appealed o a higher senate above it.

Saltha has an active army force of about 62,500 men during peace time, consisting mostly of foot soldiers, and Kes mounted cavalry. Salthan soldiers generally use fidasek (four part spears), swords, shields and bows. 

 

Geography and Climate

Saltha is a semi-desert coastal region. About 80% of Saltha is desert, unsuitable for agricultural, industrial or residential use.  The area of Saltha is 389,144 square miles. Through most of the land, and especially in the south saltha has very hot and dry summers. 

 

Demographics

The population is 7,782,880, about 90% of that, or about 7,004,590 people are Salthans, 9.5% (or 739,375) are humans, and the remaining .5% (less than 39,000) are Sylvanians.

Religion

The primary religion of Saltha is Selkaksy (literally "the spirit knowledge way"), a monotheistic religion built from various local pantheistic beliefs. About 90% of ethnic Salthans hold at least a nominal belief in some form.
